A veteran-owned, 501c3 (non-profit) crisis and trauma support service
We help organizations (businesses, schools, churches, athletic teams, etc...) recover from traumatic events like untimely deaths, workplace violence, mass casualties, accidents, natural/man-made disasters, pandemics, shootings, or any other number of crises/events that disrupt people's sense of normalcy, safety, and security. We have developed and implemented crisis, mass casualty, and disaster response training for veterans, churches, the SC National Guard, SC Military Department, and the state of South Carolina. Our world-class professionals can help address the troubles of this world and assist you and your organization in overcoming them.
Our name, PHILOS (pronounced "feel-ose"), is both a Greek word (φίλος) and an acronym. The Greek meaning for "philos" is a verb for brotherly love or love for a friend. PHILOS also stands for People Helping In Loss Or Struggles. Both meanings fully define our objectives; to love people through their difficulties.
Traumatic events cover a broad spectrum, all of which leave an impact upon a team or individuals on that team. A traumatic event can be experienced first-hand or witnessed and may involve some of the following:
Many organizations wish they could do something to provide some sort of care, they just do not know what to do. Oftentimes that means they do nothing at all, hoping that given enough time things will return to normal. Sure, that strategy may work given enough turnover and time, but time is critical when dealing with crisis and trauma. The longer the delay in getting people assistance, the longer the time to recover. PHILOS Support Services can provide care and interventions to an individual or large groups that can be tailored to fit the needs of your people bringing about recovery sooner.
Do you remember the children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"? In this book, the young Alexander just could not shake the impacts of his rough day and the issues seemed to compound. Soul Spring, our resiliency enrichment program, will inspire organizations and their team members to break out of their Alexander-like funk, face adversity head on, improve their outlook on life and ultimately help them and your organization meet and shatter their goals.
If you are unsure of how to handle these situations, you are not alone. These are touchy and delicate events that need to be handled with tact, timeliness and care. PHILOS Support Services is specially trained to help provide organizations with guidance, care and proven strategies to effectively help people cope or provide interventions.
PHILOS Support Services helps a wide range of organizations (businesses, churches, schools, emergency responders, civic groups, etc...) provide the best of care to help people process, grieve, and grow through difficult life events. We can work with individuals to large groups. Whatever your organizational crisis need is, PHILOS will advise on the way forward and provide your most valued resource, your people, with evidence based best practices that minimize long-term impacts and maximizes healing of the mind and soul.
We live in South Carolina. Hurricanes and flooding are common words in our vocabulary. And sadly, so are chemical spills due to train derailments and house fires. These events leave people feeling vulnerable and even worse, they can end up with people losing everything. Homes can be destroyed, sentimental items lost forever, and their sense of safety and security are compromised. Our services help provide people with psychological and spiritual first aid, allows space for people to grieve as they pick up the pieces of their lives, and work to move forward. PHILOS Support Services offers support and care during these difficult times.
We offer a wide range of team building and relationship enrichment events/workshops that can be customized to meet the individual needs of your organization. For team building we do anything from outdoor adventures to cooking challenges, all which promote teamwork, cooperation and communication. Our relationship enrichment events focus on relationships at home that strengthen partner and familial bonds.
Many organizations have some sort of care plan for their organization, but very few have ones that cover critical events involving suicide, crisis and trauma all of which are major life changing, worldview altering events. PHILOS Support Services can help your organization design a crisis care plan and even train people within it so your organization can be self-supporting and even be prepared to offer crisis care within your community.
If you notice that a team member's personality has seemed to change, we can help. Maybe, a once outgoing and friendly team member has become withdrawn or suddenly a person who used to take great pride in their work seems to no longer care. These are signs that a person may be going through some personal challenges. We can help this person by providing counsel, support and even possibly referrals to get them back to being a productive member of your team while enriching their life.
We look forward to partnering with you. Feel free to reach out to us at anytime:
